My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult Review

I actually read My Sister's Keeper for the first time when I was in seventh grade, at recommendation of my English teacher. I ended up loving it, but I decided to reread it this year, because I didn't really remember it and also, I wanted to review it. This book gets five out of five stars from me. Here's the quick background: Anna Fitzgerald sues her parents for medical emancipation, because she was being forced to donate her body parts to her sister Kate, who had leukemia. Her parents, Sarah and Brian, had Anna through invitro fertilization to ensure her to be a genetic match for Kate, so she could be a donor. Anna's lawyer is Campell Alexander, her guardian ad litem is Julia Romano. I loved this book even more when I read it the second time, because of the format and flow of the story. My favorite character was Anna, because of her fighting spirit and also her ability to stand up for herself. She forced her parents to hear what she had to say, when all her life, they had been taking things from her without telling her what they were really for. My second favorite character was Campell, because he was willing to take on Anna's case and fight for her. Sarah and Brian, I feel they had good intentions for Kate, but they didn't really consider Anna's feelings when they made the decisions for her to donate stem cells, bone marrow, lymphocytes ect. Also, Sarah lost all of my respect when in the book, during conversation at the hairdresser's, that she didn't really want to think about the baby's name, that she had only thought of what Anna would do for Kate. Brian wanted to do what was best, and he seemed to actually care about Anna's feelings, while Sarah didn't really want to listen to anyone but herself. But then again, she was the mother, of her daughter who was dying of leukemia before her eyes, and she felt she needed to do something about it. Overall, this was a great read and I would definitely recommend it to others who wanted to read it.
Tell me in the comments below what you thought of this book. Did you like it, did you agree with what Anna's parents did, what did you think of the ending and more. Let me know!
