Law and Order: SVU/Chicago PD Crossover Event Review

This episode, titled Nationwide Manhunt, was released on February 10, so I apologize for this being up almost a week late, but to make up for it there is also a mini review of the accompanying Chicago PD episode which was part of this two hour crossover event. In my opinion, this was a great episode. A quick overview; infamous serial killers Gregory Yates and Carl Rudnick escape from prison, with the aid of Bronwyn Wilkins(remembered from Season 15, as she was the one to help notorious sociopath William Lewis escape from prison in the episode Beast's Obsession) who baked tools into lasagna so the two could escape. Chicago PD's detectives(who were already present in New York assisting the SVU squad with a case, join in with the hunt for the two criminals. The two go on a killing spree, murdering anyone who may stand in their way, headed for a border into Canada. Rudnick is soon found, shot and hidden inside of an abandoned boat, where Yates ditched him. Detective Erin Lindsay and Sergeant Dodds continue in hot pursuit of Yates, when they discover an abandoned car and another dead victim. The two then get shot at by an unknown person, who is presumed to be Yates. Dodds is shot, but not critically and orders Lindsay to stay down. She ignores him, racing into the woods, and discovering an abandoned cabin and another body, and in the victim's mouth, there is a note for her, that says Yates will see her in Chicago. This episode receives 5 out of 5 stars from me, for the suspense. This episode was more violent then most SVU episodes, but it kept you wondering what would happen next. This episode was also tied into current events(not so current anymore), because of the two escaped convicts Richard Matt and David Sweat who were also headed for the Canadian border. This episode was one of SVU's best, and I give props to the producers and actors for this outstanding episode.
Here's your bonus review of Chicago PD's episode in this two hour crossover event, titled The Song of Gregory Williams Yates. This episode receives five out of five stars from me, again, because it didn't bore me. I always wanted to know what would happen next. A quick overview; continuing on from SVU's failed attempt to catch Yates after apprehending Rudnick, Detective Tutuola and Lieutenant Benson head down to Chicago to assist the Chicago PD detectives in finding Yates. Detective Erin Lindsay recieves a package, containing a severed hand, from Yates, and it is soon learned the Yates tapped her phone when she visited him in prison, and has been effectively tracking her every move. Detective Lindsay has a personal relationship with the accused, because he murdered her friend, Nadia. After Yates leads the detectives from Chicago and New York on a wild goose chase, Lindsay receives a phone call from Yates, leading her to his childhood home, and his real motive is discovered. Yates wants revenge on his biological parents, because they gave him up. Lindsay arrives too late to save the father, but gets her revenge when she shoots Yates when he comes at her with an ice pick. This episode comes to a close with Benson counseling Lindsay over drinks. I absolutely loved this crossover event, it was one of my favorites. I usually don't watch Chicago PD, but this episode was absolutely amazing. I look forward to the next crossover.
Let me know in the comments below what you thought of this crossover event, did you think it was as suspenseful as I did, did you like the pairing with Chicago PD etc. Let me know! Also, this week's episode Collateral Damages is released on Wednesday, February 17 and I promise I will have a review of this up on time!
