Grey's Anatomy: Season 13 "What's Inside" Review
Hello, people. Yes, I've been away for awhile, school has been insanely crazy. I promise I won't write some long, apologetic blog post about how I'm sorry I haven't been around lately, because I know not many people actually read this blog. I will, however, apologize for beginning my Grey's Anatomy episode reviews in the middle of the season, but please understand that I don't have time to go back and review every episode that came out during my long absence. Law and Order: SVU lovers, I'll to get back to reviewing that show for next week's episode, if I can. I won't make promises that I'm not sure I'll be able to keep. I am in the process of deciding what to do specifically with the TV show reviews, because I don't think that I'll have time to review both SVU and Grey's every week, so I'll figure that out. Right now, I'm thinking that maybe I'll alternate between the two, so I'll do Grey's this week, and then SVU next week and vice versa. Also, I realize that in my last pose, Evolutions, I said that I was trying to change the direction that this blog was going, and I am still figuring that out. So, without further ado, here's the review of Grey's Anatomy's "What's Inside."
This week's episode I really did like, and the writers managed to put a little bit of suspense into it during Maggie Pierce's first day back doing fetal heart surgery. If you didn't get a chance to watch, Dr. Pierce snatched the fetal surgery from Dr. Riggs, and worked with Arizona Robbins on it, despite doubt from the family. She also froze midway through surgery when the baby started deteriorating. Luckily everything turned out somewhat better. The Owen-Amelia thing is also getting kind of annoying, because last season, they teased the whole "marriage" thing, and they got married, but now it's really unclear what they're doing. Last week's episode was heartbreaking, but pretty predictable. One thing that completely annoyed me about this week's episode was the fact that the show keeps teasing Meredith and Nathan getting together and being a thing, but it never happens. Obviously, they wanted to allow the Meredith some healing time after losing Derek, but I think people are eager to see her enter the dating scene again.
I really enjoyed seeing Jackson in it more for Maggie, giving her the pictures at the end of the episode along with the folder of her mother's medical records. Finally, we were able to see one of the first dance parties led by Meredith and her new "twisted sisters" since Cristina left in Season 10. Going back to the promo for next week's episode, I'm a little surprised, annoyed and excited. The promo, if you haven't seen it already, shows a plane and Meredith and Nathan getting a chance to talk, in the plane bathroom, and then the plane experiencing some difficulties in the air because of a thunderstorm. I'm really hoping it's not another plane crash because we've already been through that before where we lost Lexie and Mark. I am, however, excited to maybe see Nathan and Meredith become a thing, because that's been teased a lot and I'd like to see it become a reality, although I really hope that it doesn't come with a plane crash. Overall, this week's episode was good, and I'm looking forward to next week's episode, "In the Air Tonight" with mixed apprehension and excitement.
